Conversations
It happens all the time: you’re listening to someone talk and they totally lose you. It’s all facts and figures—nothing genuine, nothing sensible. But then something strange happens—they begin to tell a story about a person, about a place, about a feeling. Something clicks, and you begin to care. You begin to think differently about something.
Stories of success and innovation within education can feed our collective desire to address challenges and solve problems.
Our public education system has challenges, but a challenge met makes the greatest kind of story. These are some of the success stories that we’ve gathered from remarkable people who have had great experiences with public education in the Chattanooga area.
Tell Your Story
Let’s shift our focus to the real stories—
lots of them.
Don’t avoid stories of challenges and things that need changing. DO focus on the details. We all need heroes, and it doesn’t take an extravagant, epic story to shift a person's perspective.
Use Shift as an opportunity to talk about challenges you faced related to education. Color in all the details of your experience. Talk about when, where, who, why, how. Take your place among the voices joining in the Shift campaign.

Pictures can shift our attention.
Remember, a picture’s worth a thousand words.
Use great pictures from on and off the playground, videos that show why learning matters, or short personal anecdotes that have the power to make people listen.
-
Shift to social media.
Get the story where people will see it, hear it, and pay attention to it.
You can start by posting your story on our facebook page.

Shift priorities.
When they said it takes a village, they weren’t kidding.
